About

My Brother’s Keeper Newark (MBKN) is Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s response to President Obama’s call for action to address the pressing challenges facing Boys and Men of Color. This response is built on Newark’s unique environment, and brings together leadership and partnerships that have the potential to achieve significant progress toward the six White House-identified goals. Each of the goals reflects current priorities of corporate partners, concerned individuals, nonprofit agencies, philanthropic organizations, public entities and other stakeholders.

MBKN will exponentially increase how the city strategically invests resources and coordinates initiatives among and between partners to ensure that young men of color can achieve their full potential, regardless of who they are, from where they come, or the circumstances in which they are born.
